Alex Pereira‘s public break-up with his ex-girlfriend Merle Christine at the end of last year was a shocker to his fans. After over two years of dating, where the two became integral parts of each other’s lives, they split up for a bizarre and shocking reason. But now, the UFC champion is piquing fans’ interest again over a rumored romance with fellow UFC star Polyana Viana.

Pereira is one of the biggest stars in the UFC and among the most decorated martial artists in the world, having become a double champion in (the most competitive promotions in) two different sports. His former girlfriend Merle was by his side when he lifted his maiden UFC title at UFC 281 in November 2022. As ‘Poatan’ prepares to take on Jiri Prochazka in a rematch at UFC 303 next week, let us take a look at his rumored relationship with Polyana Viana.

Why was Alex Pereira linked to Polyana Viana? Were they dating?

The former middleweight champion is being linked with Brazilian UFC star Polyana Viana, who fights in the strawweight division and is currently unranked. Fans will remember former interim welterweight champion Colby Covington, who had once claimed to be in a relationship with Viana once.

While this is pure speculation at this point in time, there are good reasons behind them. The rumors gained momentum after a video of Viana grappling with the light heavyweight champion in the latter’s kitchen emerged. And this was only the first of many social media posts that followed.

Pereira and Viana have both shared social media posts where they can be seen training with each other. One post that went down well with the fans was the UFC strawweight’s comedy clip of getting knocked out straight to heaven by the champion. Quite recently, in an Instagram story, Pereira shared a clip of him playing a board game with Viana, ultimately beating her.

Fans are now paying close attention to Pereira and Viana’s social media posts for any further indications that may confirm or deny these rumors. To some, this might even be reminiscent of the happy moments that the champion used to share back when he was with Merle. Things, however, turned sour quickly for the couple, who held nothing back once the breakup went public and the accusations started flying. Having seen Alex Pereira and Polyana Viana together, the fans were sure that there was something going on between the two. But their assumptions came crashing down when both UFC fighters subsequently unfollowed each other on their social media handles, especially on Instagram. Viana even went on to remove any and all traces of Pereira from her Instagram profile by deleting the posts she made of the light heavyweight champion.

Another indication that made fans believe that they’d broken up was when Polyana Viana shared a light-hearted video with her son of a similar kind to the ones she made with Alex Pereira in the past, and ‘Poatan’ would try to one-up her by posting a video with an unidentified female. But when a fan asked what’s the deal with the social media posts being so similar, he just claimed that everybody copies each other’s posts.

Polyaba Viana seems to be in the past for Alex Pereira, and now his focus is on keeping his 205-pound championship with him as he gears up for his upcoming main event bout against former champion Jiri Prochazka this weekend.
