Is Irene Aldana's single status the secret to her UFC success? What do you think?

Later this year in December, bantamweight contender Irene Aldana will mark eight years of fighting under the UFC banner. It might be safe to say that she’s a veteran of WMMA. The 5th-ranked contender has more success than failures in Dana White‘s promotion, and her UFC record of eight wins and five losses proves that pretty well. But that’s been the topic of discussions enough and today the focus will be on her personal life.

Irene Aldana is a former title challenger who hasn’t yet gotten her hands on the bantamweight gold, and her MMA exploits are well-documented, but not her personal life. Moreover, while some fighters have been pretty open about their dating life and relationships, Aldana has stayed rather quiet and kept a rather low profile. Ahead of her upcoming fight against Norma Dumont, we’ll uncover all the facts catering to her love life.

Irene Aldana was always an athletic kid, which left no doubt that she would become a professional sportsperson when she turned into an adult. Dancing, and going to the gym, just to name a few, was a regular thing for the Brazilian bantamweight. However, Aldana’s athletic routine faced an obstacle when she moved to the Mexican city of Guadalajara for academics. At that time, the 36-year-old lost all tough with sports for a considerable amount of time.

“I moved to Guadalajara to study my career, graphic design, and I went like two years without doing any type of exercise. I was too busy studying, school was taking up a lot of my time,” Irene Aldana told ‘MMA Fighting’ in 2017. A new experience, living by herself, and the added pressure of her academic work made it hard for her to do anything that she used to enjoy. However, a couple of years after her move to Guadalajara, Aldana would get back to her old ways and start training at a gym, Lobo Gym, which had been on her radar for quite some time.

“I had a friend that trained at Lobo [Gym] and he would always talk to me about it. It was actually very funny because I would always drive by the gym, look at it, and then leave, then I’d drive by it again, look at it, and leave,” Irene Aldana added. It’s clear to say that the decision to resume her athletic routine and join the hotbed of Mexican MMA, Lobo Gym, turned out to be the best decision she ever took.

Irene Aldana failed to capitalize on the only title shot she got last year, and a win over Norma Dumont would do her more good than bad. Regardless, what do you predict for the UFC 306 fight? Drop your comments below.
