Jon Jones hinted at a possible comeback after three years and has his eyes set on Alex Pereira. The current UFC heavyweight champ had the desire to fight ‘Poatan’ and believes that with all the achievements he and Pererira have acquired in their careers, their fight might be overpowering Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor in UFC 229.
Recently, even Chael Sonnen seemed excited about Jones returning and commented on how ‘Bones’ could get his dream fight against Pereira in a blockbuster encounter.

‘Bones’ is ready to fight Alex Pereira and declared it on social media and everywhere else. He even answered fans and said that he had a date fixed but decided not to decide on behalf of Dana White because it was up to the UFC head honcho to give the green light for the bout. Chael Sonnen said something similar along these lines during his ESPN appearance with Daniel Cormier.
He was pretty excited about Jones coming back and added that Jones was once adamant about not lacing his boots after Miocic. However, that fight got canceled because of his shoulder injury. However, Uncle Chael added, “Man, he is loosening up now. He is calling out 205-pounders. I mean, if Jon Jones really wanted that fight with Pereira, if he truly wanted it, Jon could get it.”
He continued, “He just gonna have to do everything that he’s done in reverse. He’s gonna have to tell Dana White ‘I’m going back to 205, and he’s gonna walk away from the heavyweight Crown. I don’t predict that happens.”
So basically, Sonnen thinks that Jones needs to either return to the 205 weight class or walk away from the heavyweight title. Meanwhile, Cormier wanted Jones to go back to 205 because of his physique. Meanwhile, Tom Aspinall thinks Jones is “playing games” but announcing the Pereira fight.

In a TNT sports update, Tom Aspinall spoke up about ‘Bones’ and his declaration that he wants to fight ‘Poatan’. ‘Honey badger’ opened up about Jones not choosing him and said that he would be ready to converse with him for hours if the two belt champ decided to sign a contract with Aspinall’s name on the other side. However, “Right now, the guys playing games again. Tryna convinces the public of what he wants and what he doesn’t want, which he does well.”
Pereira is the 205 champ at the moment, and Jones is targeting him because of that while also appreciating Poatan’s prowess. Jones also believes their achievements and fighting styles are similar, so it’s a perfect match.
