Is Dana White disrespecting Belal Muhammad by offering peanuts for his first title defense?

Belal Muhammad just clinched the title of welterweight champion from Leon Edwards and shocked the whole world. On the other hand, the next chapter is already starting because “I hope you keep your word and defend your title against me when you’re ready, champ,” wrote Shavkat Rakhmonov. ‘Remember The Name’ made the world remember his name with this spectacular victory and, following it graciously accepted the call-out by the 29-year-old. However, this time the hurdle might be UFC CEO Dana White because he might not set this fight as predicted by the UFC insiders.

The newly crowned welterweight champ joined Brendan Schaub and Bryan Callen in The Fighter and The Kid to talk about what it was like being a champ. He also answered about the possibility of fighting Islam Makhachev and then after the interview Schaub and Callen discussed the PPV secrets of the promotion. Callen was a little surprised that Muhammad was just face-timing them from his home like the humble man he was.

Schaub pulled his leg and said, “You thought he would call from like a gold castle or something. Oh, you think the championships you get gold castles?” Callen went with the fun and replied, “You leave with a huge chest of gold…” Unfortunately, the harsh truth about the UFC came out when Schaub revealed, “He won’t make the way it’s set up contractually. He won’t make real money until he defends the belt. Then he gets Pay Per View. That’s the way it is.”

Everyone in the podcast was shocked and asked whether Muhammad was paid any bonus. So apparently Muhammad did not get any bonus and White gave bonuses to others, but not the Performance of the Night. There is, however, another long story to this, and it is not just the loss of Muhammad.

The UFC head honcho had promised a whopping $100k bonus on the pre-fight presser after Leon Edwards and King Green requested. However, after the fights concluded, White did not want to give the bonus anymore. Why? Let’s see.

Dana White made a shocking announcement after UFC 304

During the press conference of UFC 304, King Green had blurted out that there should be a $100K bonus to spice up the event. The UFC head honcho had then looked at the former welterweight champ Leon Edwards and ‘Rocky’ agreed to it. Eventually, the boss also agreed with both the fighters and promised to spice things up. However, despite being so confident, neither King Green nor Leon Edwards were able to become victorious in their respective fights.

Have an interesting take?

‘Remember the Name’ became the new welterweight champion by unanimous decision. This disappointed White, along with the fact that the fight went longer than he had anticipated. This is why he announced that he would never promise a bonus again at any press conference.

White said, “I think tonight’s show that we should not. Upping them doesn’t change anything. It doesn’t make anybody fight any harder. It doesn’t change anything. I’m not doing this again. Ever. Today was the last, the last day that I was doing that. I’m not saying that in the future, the bonuses couldn’t get up, but I’m not gonna be at a press conference, say, ‘200, 300’.F***ing never again. You can thank everybody on this card for that. Nobody fought any harder. There was no sense of urgency. ‘Holy s**t! I want the $100K!’”

Bryan Callen in the latest podcast said that the fight world was harsh and indeed it is. The fighters need to fight for their prize and prove themselves. People expect Rakhmonov to be Muhammad’s next opponent, but nothing is confirmed. Do you think Dana White would agree to this? Share your views in the comments below.
