Paddy Pimblett wants to be in the UFC for the time being. The Liverpool native is gearing up to fight the fighter formerly known as Bobby Green on the main card of UFC 304 on Saturday in his native England. This fight would have been the last one on his current UFC contract, which he had signed in 2021 after a promising stint in the local British circuit. But the 29-year-old is going nowhere.
UFC commentator and former double-champ Daniel Cormier revealed on the ‘UFC 304 Morning Weigh-In Show’ that Pimblett has signed a contract extension with the UFC. This hasn’t come as a surprise to anyone since the Liverpool native had made his intentions clear in media interactions even before signing the extension.
“Why would I leave the UFC?… Yeah, my contract is already getting negotiated. As if the UFC is just going to let me go. Are you f***ing messing?” an exasperated Pimblett told reporters ahead of UFC 304.

While Pimblett has had to contend with fighting with unranked opponents in his UFC stint so far, he is preparing for a step up in competition. And that could very well be the first step in him making a run for the coveted 155-pound title.

Pimblett waiting for star power to catch up with standing in the division
King Green is ranked #15 in the star-studded 155-pound division of the UFC. And if Paddy Pimblett can defeat the supremely confident UFC vet, he may well find himself in the ranking for the first time in the UFC. Like all fighters, the Liverpool native has aspirations of becoming champion, but that still seems far away, even if he wins his next fight.
Over the past few years, despite some setbacks, Pimblett has managed to become a bona fide star in the promotion with his signature swagger, exciting bar brawler fighting style, and colorful personality. Not to mention the attention he has been getting in his native England.

The Scouser, along with his good friend and fellow UFC fighter Molly McCann is the subject of the BBC documentary, ‘Show No Mersey’ that will follow their lives as they navigate balancing their professional life with their personal life and family.
Given his already-established star power and name recognition, Pimblett would probably have an easier road to a title shot than many others. But first, he needs to get through King Green, who isn’t anything if not dangerous. What are your thoughts on Pimblett’s contract extension with the Dana White-led promotion?
