On January 21, the first quadrilogy of UFC history reached its conclusion. A fight involving Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno provided high-paced and thrilling action for the viewers. Despite putting on a gutsy display, the Brazilian fighter lost his title after an unfortunate doctor stoppage. A swollen right eye due to a left punch from ‘The Assassin Baby’ became a cause of concern and thus, ‘Daico’ couldn’t continue further. Worriedly, the Soure-born fighter himself in an Instagram post disclosed he suffered an orbital fracture. Further, the fracture might require surgical resolution for the injuries inflicted. Significantly, the medical reports also impose a 6-month long medical suspension, and therefore, it might be awhile before the fans see ‘Figgi’ again in the Octagon.
Notably, the first numbered event of the year 2023, UFC 283, was a violent affair. A total of 7 fights on the UFC’s Rio de Janeiro fight card ended with T/KOs. As a result, the damage inflicted on the fighters was substantial. Therefore, the Comissao Atletica Brasileira de MMA (CABMMA) that oversaw the event released a lengthy list of medical suspensions.
