Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is the biggest Hollywood star at the moment. Before this, he was one of the most successful WWE stars of all time. Johnson comes from a family of wrestlers and started training as young as five.

‘The Rock’ told Joe Rogan that the one man who inspired him most was former heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, who inspired his ‘The People’s Champion’ moniker during his wrestling days. However, this is not the only connection he has to the great man, as he told Rogan during his JRE podcast appearance last week.

During their conversation, Joe Rogan and Dwayne Johnson talked about ‘The Rock’s father, Rocky Johnson who was a popular pro wrestler in the ’70s and ’80s. Johnson told Rogan that his father was an accomplished amateur boxer who had won the Golden Gloves in Canada.

The Hollywood star also revealed that his father used to spar with legendary heavyweight boxers like Muhammad Ali and George Foreman. Rocky, however, quit his boxing career and became a pro wrestler as he had been fascinated by it from a young age.

“My dad was a great amateur boxer. He sparred with [‘Big’ George] Foreman a few times. Sparred with [Muhammad] Ali, that was a little bit more of a show. Great amateur, Golden Gloves in Canada, he was a bada**. So, he was teaching me to hit it at a young age, heavy bag, speed bag, things like that,” he said.

Johnson’s appearance on the JRE podcast was met with mixed reviews from fans. One man in particular had a bizarre theory about why the action movie star went on the podcast, despite the history between the two men.

Chael Sonnen thinks Johnson’s JRE appearance precursor to something big

Sonnen was upset that Rogan and Johnson did not address the bad blood between the two during the podcast. Rogan had accused the Hollywood star of using PEDs and lying about it, while ‘The Rock’ had chastised the podcast host during the n-word controversy.
