When Conor McGregor became the UFC featherweight champion, he took the entire world by storm. Meanwhile, the sport has been dominated by fighters with elite ground games. ‘The Notorious’ was an anomaly. Moreover, he had also beaten the likes of Chad Mendes, who was a wrestler, in order to prove his worth to the world.

However, as he moved up in the weight division, his lack of skills on the ground caught up to him. Although he was successful at winning the gold at lightweight, the majority of his losses that came after winning his first belt were due to his inefficiency on the ground.
