The fight started off with both the fighters coming off aggressively on each other, however, it was Alexandre Pantoja who made an early impact on the fight. Kai Asakura threw some good shots in the flyweight champion’s direction but it all failed as ‘Cannibal’ landed heavy shots in the very first round that rocked Asakura to the core. A visibly shaken Asakura recovered quickly from the heavy punches of Pantoja as the fight transitioned to the ground.

Have an interesting take?

Alexandre Pantoja seems to be dominating the entire division right now, but can he be stopped? According to one fan, Johnson might succeed where others have failed.“This is the fight to make. It would be one of, if not the biggest fight in flyweight history.” Demetrious Johnson belonged to a different breed when he was at the UFC, and ‘Mighty Mouse’ not only became the UFC flyweight champion but also defended it 11 consecutive times, putting him alongside all-time greats like Jon Jones and Anderson Silva. Looking at this a fan wrote, “Prime DJ wins, current DJ probably loses.”

Moreover, a social media user emphasized that Alexandre Pantoja would be a different animal when he faces Johnson because the level of UFC flyweights is much different now, “Pantoja would be Johnsons hardest ever fight potentially at flyweight with Cejudo so please dont say “easy win for DJ” The level at Flyweight is much better now.”

Demetrious Johnson retired from the sport as a champ and according to a fan, he should stay retired. Fans feel ‘DJ’ shouldn’t tarnish his legacy as Henry Cejudo, who came back after his retirement and suffered a huge defeat at the hands of Merab Dvalishvili – “I wanna see it so bad but DJ should stay retired.” In the same vein, another fan posted, “DJ would win dominantly, but he needs to stay retired”

Alexandre Pantoja is currently riding a seven-fight winning streak and has already defended his title thrice, in addition to virtually cleaning out the entire division. Regardless, what’s your take on the hubbub? State your thoughts in the comments below.
