The former two-division champion Daniel Cormier laid to rest the speculation of a potential trilogy fight with Jon Jones as he unequivocally announced his intention to not grace the Octagon again. The reinstallation of his formal rival, Jon Jones, as a UFC champion, ignited the speculations. Besides, the comeback of another UFC legend, Nick Dick, also prompted the fans to demand the same from DC. However, the American fighter believes he has fulfilled his fighting career. Therefore, the prominent wrestler curtailed the talks of his potential UFC return. While the Lafayette native boasts of an illustrious career inside the Octagon, he lacks the desire and, more substantially, the physicality to reign at the top.

Notably, the 43-year-old hung his MMA gloves after he failed to recapture the heavyweight gold at UFC 255 against Stipe Miocic in August 2020. The American Kickboxing Academy representative then transitioned to the commentator’s desk and now adorns the commentator’s table at UFC events. Despite being part of an exclusive ‘champ-champ’ club, the age finally caught up to him. And it significantly persists as the biggest impediment to his UFC return.

The 22-3 record holder, in the latest segment of ‘3 Rounds w/ Daniel Cormier’, touched upon the rumored comeback of Nick Diaz. While he expressed apprehensions about the ‘Skrap Pack’ member’s comeback fight, he also put himself in his shoes.

Thus, he said, “And with legends, we tend to lie to ourselves. People always tell me stuff like, ‘DC one more’. I’m not good enough anymore. I’m not, I’m not good enough.”

“‘DC, one more fight. Give it one more. We I want to see you again’. I am not good enough to fight at 43 years old. I cannot compete with the best of the world,” he added later on.

Following this, the commentator admitted, “I can’t be the world champion. That’s me being completely honest. I’m not good enough.”

He then said, “I’m not the guy no more. I’m not the killer that I once was.”
