Former middleweight champion Israel Adesanya is not a big fan of ‘Stillknocks’. Adesanya was visibly upset when Du Plessis termed himself as the first African champion in the UFC and said, “Did those belts ever go to Africa?” Since then, the pair has been involved in a lot of social media brawls. The tension between the pair was quite visible even during the face-off. While speaking on the Submission Radio show, the current champion shared the details of what exactly happened there. He said, “I think he said don’t kiss me.”
‘The Last Stylebender’ is known for his ability to play mind games with his opponents. However, it seems the former champion’s tactics do not affect the current champion. The 30-year-old claimed in the interview, “As far as I know he said don’t go kissing man. I said I’m no dog so I won’t. And you know I don’t know what he was saying. I wasn’t really focused on what he was saying. I didn’t say anything you know. I’m not here to say anything to him.”
Adesanya took a break from the sport after losing his title to Sean Strickland at UFC 293. However, the 34-year-old is back with a goal and wants to make a statement in his next fight.
During the press conference, ‘The Last Stylebender’ shared the details of why he wanted to fight the champion. However, he also made a point to share a message with him.

Israel Adesanya means business when he takes on Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 305
During the recently concluded UFC 305 press conference, Israel Adesanya had some stern warnings for the champion. They were previously scheduled to meet at UFC 293, but a foot injury forced the South African out of the fight. ‘Tarzan’ stepped up to the occasion and defeated Adesanya to win the belt at UFC 293. However, Du Plessis then went on to win the belt at UFC 297 after he defeated Strickland in a closely fought contest.
After winning the title ‘Stillknocks’ termed himself as the first African champion which irked Adesanya. At the UFC 305 press conference, he said, “He tried to discredit the three kings and say that he is the real true African Champion. But then him discrediting me, Francis Ngannou, Kamaru Usman, that took me off a little bit. So, that’s what started this. But again, I’ll finish it.”
