A severe strep throat infection took away one of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu’s biggest names for a few months. But now, ‘The King’ is almost ready to make a return. The health problem had forced Gordon Ryan to step away from the mats. With a substantially downsized physique, all his fans were left worrying about the five–time ADCC World champion.

Now, the wait is finally over as Gordon Ryan has made his triumphant return to training. In his recent Instagram post, Ryan shared glimpses of his practice sessions. Interestingly, his first training session was at the UFC Performance Institute. In the caption, the BJJ legend opened up about his experience of being back.

Having spent nearly four months away from the mats, this period of inactivity stands as the longest break Gordon Ryan has ever experienced. Yet, Ryan exuded a newfound happiness and enthusiasm that radiated through his words. Moreover, ‘The King’ also revealed that the session itself was graced by the presence of Jiu-Jitsu, wrestling, and MMA legends.

“It’s been almost 4 months since I’ve been able to be on the mats. The longest by far I’ve ever been away. I’m happier today than I’ve been in a long time. Rolled around a little with my old friend and mentor @bzglick (Brian Glick) here at @ufcpi. Had some jiu jitsu, wrestling, and mma legends in the session today as well.”

While he refrained from divulging specifics, Ryan hinted at his upcoming plans with a touch of excitement.

“A quick trip to Vegas for the boys and some UFC media and business, then off to Hawaii to show everyone what I’ve been thinking of and working on before I got sick. Can’t wait to see everyone out there.”

When Gordon Ryan praised Conor McGregor despite the Irishman’s TUF losing streak

Time and again, Ryan has shown appreciation and support the UFC superstar Conor McGregor. Presently, the former double champ is part of The Ultimate Fighter 31 as a coach. However, things have not been going well for McGregor, as he team has lost all fights till now.

Despite this underwhelming result, Gordon Ryan did not shy away from showing his support to Conor McGregor. Highlighting McGregor’s humble deed of giving $1200 dollars to a fan, Ryan shared some positive words for the Notorious.
