Ilia Topuria had yet another glorious victory in the UFC on ABC 5. The bout took place between him and Josh Emmett. After a back-and-forth battle, it was Topuria who won the bout via unanimous decision. After winning the bout, his confidence has increased more than ever. Now the 14-0 record holder aims at nothing less than the UFC featherweight championship. To become champion, ‘El Matador’ would have to face the UFC featherweight kingpin, Alexander Volkanovski. ‘The Great’ is one of the strongest fighters in the world’s biggest MMA promotion. Currently, the Australian champion is preparing to fight against Yair Rodriguez at UFC 290. The bout is scheduled for July 8, 2023, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

It will be Volkanovski’s first fight after losing against Islam Makhachev at UFC 284. Volkanovski moved up to the lightweight division to fight Makhachev and gain the lightweight title. However, he was unable to win the monumental fight, despite it being a highly close affair. Now, Topuria has talked about how he would defeat Volkanovski in their future bout. He warns the Australian fighter.

 After winning against Josh Emmett, Ilia Topuria was talking in the post-fight press conference. In a video uploaded by MMA Fighting on YouTube, Topuria said, “I show it tonight that no one can match my level of skill inside the cage. I think everyone is agree with me. I know that I can finish anyone in this division.”

Talking further on the same topic, he added, “So just was tough tonight, but I beat him pretty, pretty easy and it didn’t it don’t going to be like different with Alex you know. The wrestle is going to be the same. I’m gonna knock him out in the first round second round. If not, I’m gonna dominate him for five rounds. No problem.” From the words of ‘El Matador’, it is clear that his aim is to defeat the reigning featherweight champion.

‘El Matador’ is confident

 Winning the world championship is indeed the dream of every UFC fighter. The Georgian-Spanish fighter is no different. Even though he is confident about winning against ‘The Great, he believes that Volkanovski is one of the best fighters in the UFC. In an interview with SHAK MMA, Topuria found it difficult to list Volkanovski’s weaknesses. According to him, Volkanovski is the best and has very few weaknesses. However, soon he brought a different point of view to the matter.
