Former UFC star Felipe Colares has died in Brazil. He was 29 years old. The current Ares FC star was hit by a bus on Monday morning while returning from training. As per his coach Rodrigo Babi, the fighter was rushed to Hospital Rocha Faria in Campo Grande but died on the way before reaching there. This incident happened in Rio de Janeiro, on Avenida das Américas, in Guaratiba, West Zone of the city.
Colares lived in Amapa in Rio and had a wife, Jacquline, and a 10-month-old son. ‘Cabocão’ was affiliated with Team Nogueira. The 29-year-old had amassed an impressive 11-4 professional MMA record. Undefeated in his three bouts at Jungle Fight, he became their featherweight champion in 2017.
Colares joined the UFC in 2019. The Brazilian was 2-4 in his six fights under the promotion. He held wins over Domingo Pilarte and Luke Sanders and lost to Geraldo de Freitas, Montel Jackson, Chase Hooper, and Chris Gutierrez. He exited the promotion following the Hooper loss. He then joined Ares FC and secured a win in his first bout in February against Alioune Nahaye. The news was saddening to fight fans who came together to bid farewell to the fighter.
