It seems everyone wants a shot at Dricus Du Plessis! At UFC 312, he delivered a commanding performance against Sean Strickland, leaving the American with a broken nose on his way to a unanimous decision victory. However, the lack of a finish has emboldened other contenders, with many believing they have the blueprint to take him down. Instead of solidifying his dominance, Du Plessis’ win has only fueled the competition, as fighters line up, convinced they can be the one to dethrone the middleweight king.

One of the fighters who has taken a special liking towards him is Belal Muhammad. The welterweight champion seems to have found a flaw in the middleweight champion’s game and is ready to take him on. ‘Remember the Name’ first hinted at a rivalry towards ‘Stillknocks’ after his fight at UFC 312. While many experts and fans were super impressed by him, the welterweight champion was not. He took to his X account and tweeted, “I can be double champ pretty easily.”

It now seems he has already devised his game plan against the middleweight champion.  The 36-year-old took to his X and shared how exactly he would beat the champion. He posted on X, “I’d come out him with a 1-2 then he’d wing an overhand I’ll duck it change levels, and take him down then he’d shrimp and get the underhook to get out but he’ll be too weak to get up so then I’ll hit him with ground and pound for the rest of round 1″.

He then pointed out how he would approach the second round and further added, “Round 2 starts and I come out with a flying knee he shells up then I hit him with the zabit back trip then point and laugh at him (this makes him mad) he gets up and charges forward winging punches at me I slide out of the way with ease then hit him with a 1-2 then he gets frustrated shoots for a takedown I defend with ease but now he’s tired and stays on his knees I kick him to the body while he’s on the ground. End of round 2.”

That’s not the end according to the welterweight champion. Such is his confidence that he feels he can make Du Plessis tap out in the third round. Well more than Muhammad, Du Plessis needs to worry about Khamzat Chimaev at the moment. ‘Borz’ is more than likely the next to fight ‘Stillknocks’ next and it seems the champion is ready for the challenge.

Dricus Du Plessis believes he can stop the hype train surrounding Chimaev

What truly stands out about Dricus Du Plessis’ fighting style? At first glance, it’s his unorthodox, almost awkward approach inside the cage. A former kickboxer, he primarily thrives in stand-up exchanges, relying on his striking pedigree. While his movements may seem unconventional, they often catch opponents off guard, making him a tricky puzzle to solve in the Octagon. Looking at the current scenario and recent performance he will most probably be up against Khamzat Chimaev next. Chimaev is coming off a first-round win over Robert Whittaker at UFC 308 and impressed many with his performance.

But the middleweight champion is not worried about him at all but is rather ready for the challenge. While speaking on the ESPN MMA show he shared his mindset and said, “Khamzat is an incredible fighter. Nobody has been able to beat him. But he hasn’t fought anybody of note other than Robert Whittaker. That is it.” He then reminded the Chechen fighter that MMA is not only about wrestling but rather a mixture of a variety of things. He further added, “I can wrestle, I can grapple, I can strike. I am not the best grappler or wrestler or striker. In MMA, I am the best. Now he wants to come to middleweight. Great, let’s go.”

It seems Dricus Du Plessis has caught the attention of many out there after his UFC 312 performance. Can he keep on winning inside the Octagon next? What do you think of Belal Muhammad’s call out of DDP? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
