Fred Pinto kicks off the interview, praising Dustin Poirier’s remarkable accolades. The discussion started with the duo delving into the intriguing nuances of how self-defense builds character. As their dialogue progressed, the host brought up the idea of teaching self-defense to kids to counter bullying in schools. On the same note, ‘The Diamond’ had a lot to say – and he’s arguably right about it all.

Poirier opened up about the profound impact of mixed martial arts (MMA) on his life. The #2 Lightweight fighter emphasized the importance of martial arts, especially for children facing bullying in schools. He started off by saying, “Yeah, I think everybody should – especially the children. Not just for the self-defense things that something like Jiu-jitsu would give you.”

Moreover, UFC’s ‘Diamond’ reflected on his own journey, expressing regret that he hadn’t started earlier. He believes that learning martial arts not only equips individuals with self-defense skills but also helps build character and self-confidence.

Poirier acknowledged that bullying is a serious issue and that knowing how to defend oneself is crucial. Adding to this, he advocated the use of MMA as a countermeasure. In the same vein, he added, “You do need to know how to defend yourself and carry yourself around people, especially in those kind of positions if you’re being bullied and things like that.”

However, the 34-year-old also stressed that the benefits of martial arts go beyond self-defense. Engaging in martial arts allows individuals to test and discover themselves. “But [also] just to uplift who you are and to learn about yourself through martial arts is a great way to do it,” Diamond echoed. But he’s not the only one trying to make a change.
