UFC lightweight Dan Hooker didn’t hold back on Twitter when he went after former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones. ‘The Hangman’ fired shots at Jones and called him out for his recent controversy in Las Vegas. Jones faced both felony and misdemeanor charges in Las Vegas, which he recently managed to resolve within the state of Nevada.
However, Dan Hooker recently decided to chime in on the controversies surrounding Jones, and he made a rather colorful remark about the former champion. Chiefly, Hooker decided to jab away at Jones in response to the recent news regarding Chael Sonnen’s arrest in Las Vegas. Sonnen was allegedly arrested for defending his wife and handing out a beat down to five individuals, and Dan Hooker had something to say about the entire controversy.
Imagine beating up 5 people and not one of them is your wife. (JJones RN 🤯) https://t.co/Jzw6oVC640

Jon Jones didn’t take Dan Hooker’s insult laying down, and he was quick to respond on Twitter. ‘Bones’ brought up the fact that Dan Hooker hasn’t been able to capitalize on certain opportunities that have come his way as of late. Not to mention, Jones made sure to jab Israel Adesanya in the process as well, Dan Hooker’s longtime training partner.
@danthehangman, every opportunity you’ve had to make a name for yourself and be closer to your boy Izzy, you dropped the ball. You can’t achieve greatness, so you hop online and attack someone who has. Sounds about right

Hooker jabbed back at Jones Jones and sent out a couple of tweets that truly affirmed that he had a beef with Jon Jones.
I was triggered by your disingenuous attempt to bring attention to Chael’s situation. He was arrested for defending his wife, you were arrested for assaulting yours. 🍎 & 🍊

Will Dan Hooker return to form in 2022?
‘The Hangman’ is one of the most dynamic lightweight fighters on the roster who hasn’t yet been able to breakthrough. 2021 wasn’t particularly kind to the City Kickboxing stand-out who went 1-2 against the current roster. His only win came to Nasrat Haqparast in a short notice effort where he was able to assert his dominance.

Hooker, however, was completely steamrolled at the end of the year when he faced off against Khabib Nurmagomedov’s pupil in Islam Makhachev. The Russian grappling ace tied Hooker up early into the fight and went on the secure a kimura choke. Not to mention, Hooker was also knocked out in an emphatic fashion by Michael Chandler earlier on in the year.

All in all, Hooker has shown himself to be a contender despite suffering setbacks against the upper echelon fighters of the division. He is able to clear out the mid-range lightweight contenders who stand in his way. Fans of the ‘Hangman’ will be looking for him to bounce back within the first quarter of 2022 itself.
