Colby Covington is one of the most polarizing personalities in the world of combat sports. Covington isn’t shy of giving controversial takes in return for publicity if he stays in the limelight. This strategy has certainly helped him in the UFC, as ‘Chaos’ is a top draw in the Welterweight division. However, some of his comments, such as the one made on Jon Anik, have landed him in a major backlash.
Recently, UFC veterans have given their take on Covington’s comments on Anik. The UFC welterweight certainly would not like the words used against him.
John McCarthy and Josh Thomson give Colby Covington a reality check

Josh Thomson and John McCarthy shared their opinion on the latest Colby Covington controversy. The former UFC fighter gave ‘Chaos’ a reality check. Thomson said, “Colby Covington, you’ll do nothing. You’ll do nothing… It’s a bit like I would take this more serious if it was Masvidal or Nate Diaz or Nick Diaz. I’d take it more serious. This is Colby Covington.”
Further, Thomson said that Covington grew up in a good family and probably won’t do anything to Jon Anik. Also, he pointed out that the antics of Covington are nothing but a “bit”. He stated that these are not to be taken seriously.
Thomson continued, “He ain’t driving up there to try and find Jon Anik. He ain’t doing that. So I know it is you are threatening somebody publicly which is very stupid.”
McCarthy then added, “Isn’t this the guy that is now basically sued two different fighters? Because they supposedly went after him.”

John McCarthy didn’t hold back to criticize Covington for his actions. McCarthy said that Covington has already sued Jorge Masvidal and Fabricio Werdum in Court.
The former referee continued, “You’re gonna be the guy putting out threats to a guy that he’s just doing his job. He’s the commentator. And he is a great commentator and you’re gonna sit there and talk about the guys kids and that you’re gonna f*ck him up. Stop! You’re sounding ridiculous.”
