The UFC 264 main event fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier was all set to conclude their epic rivalry. Poirier won that fight after the 1 round by a TKO (doctors stoppage). Therefore, everyone believed that with this victory for Poirier, the rivalry between Poirier and McGregor will end.

However, McGregor did not believe so as during the post-fight interview, he called out Poirier for a 4th fight. Since then, there has been much speculation about whether that fight will happen. Now finally ‘The Diamond’ has shared his views on the same.

While talking to Ariel Helwani, he said, “We’ll see what happens, Ariel. I’m not sitting back waiting to fight him a fourth time. If it makes sense, it comes about, we’ll do it again. I’m just training, living my life. My daughter just started her first day at school today. I’m having fun trying to grow as a martial artist and I’m not committing to anything.”

Many believed that the 4th fight with McGregor seemed unlikely for Poirier. However, it was almost a certainty that ‘The Diamond’ will challenge for the UFC title next. Poirier, although has revealed that he has had no talks with the UFC regarding a title fight.

He said, “We haven’t even spoken to the UFC, the title fight, or the timeline. I haven’t spoken to anyone about setting up another fight. I haven’t even been reached out by the company. So we’ll see what happens. I guess anything is possible.”

Will the 4th fight between Dustin Poirier and Conor McGregor happen?

There are many reasons due to which the 4th fight between Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier seems unlikely to happen. The biggest reason being that the 4th fight does not serve a purpose as if ‘Notorious’ wins it will tie them at 2-2.

Apart from that, the fact that ‘The Diamond’ is the N0.1 contender for the UFC title also diminishes the possibility of the 4th fight. However, the sole reason many people believe this fight should happen is because of its popularity. Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier are both enormous stars and therefore a fight between them is bound to get a lot of traction and fans would love to watch them go at each other one more time.
