Charles Oliveira is one of the best mixed martial artists in the world right now. The Brazilian is the current UFC lightweight champion and is on an impressive run in his career.

‘Do Bronx’ is coming off a spectacular win over one of the best lightweights of all time, Dustin Poirier. He took on ‘The Diamond’ at UFC 269 and submitted him in the third round to retain his title and finish 2021 on a high. However, Oliveira, in an interview, revealed a very huge weakness in his game. He is usually seen wearing glasses outside the octagon and, according to him, he can only see fifty percent without them.

He said, “I see three. If I’m hitting the middle one, it’s all right. I think, keep this same technique, three guys for me is perfect. If I’m hitting the middle one, it’s alright.”

“I’ll tell you the truth, I’m a guy who has a lot of faith in God and it’s no joke. If I take off my glasses, I can only see fifty percent, but it never hindered me in the fight. It never hindered me in the fight. Sometimes I walk in without the glasses, sometimes I walk in with the glasses. It depends on my vibe.”

“Sometimes I like to walk in with the glasses to look harmless and more nerdy than I already am. And when I take off my glasses, it’s normal, I can see my opponent on the other side. God blesses me so much that I can see normal. But on the street, If I take it off, I’m blind.”

Charles Oliveira had an amazing year

Charles Oliveira has been with the UFC for over 11 years. He joined the promotion back in 2010 and has had a long and hard road to the title. After changing his division a couple of times, ‘Do Bronx‘ started finding his feet in 2018 when he defeated Clay Guida.

Since then, he hasn’t looked back. He is currently on a 10 fight win streak and it all came together for him in 2021. After fighting and beating Tony Ferguson at UFC 256, Oliveira met Michael Chandler at UFC 262. ‘Iron’ came out all guns blazing in the first round and had Oliveira reeling. He looked to be on the way to a comfortable victory, but the Brazilian had other plans. He quickly turned the tables and started pressurizing Chandler and won the fight via TKO in the second round.

It was a moment few expected to see, but he answered all his critics with a great comeback win. However, there were still people who were questioning his credentials and when Oliveira vs. Poirier was booked, everyone seemed to give the edge to ‘The Diamond.’ The pair met in the main event of UFC 269, and after being dominated in the first round, he started taking over the fight. He submitted Poirier in the third round and cemented his position as one of the best lightweight and MMA fighters of all time.
