Ian Garry is one step away from fulfilling his childhood dream. After all, the undefeated Irishman is set to fight the boogeyman of the division- Shavkat Rakhmonov, with the winner most probably slated to fight for the belt next. While ‘The Future’ is the underdog going into the fight, he remains characteristically confident as ever of victory. So much so that he took some time off of his undoubtedly busy schedule so close to the biggest fight of his career so far to go spend some quality time with his family.

Of course, Garry’s wife, Layla Anna-Lee, has been under fire from fans (and indeed some fighters) since last year. But the Irishman remains unperturbed as he goes on an undoubtedly memorable outing with his wife and son. The UFC shared a clip of Garry, his son, and his wife going to what seems like an air hangar, where the trio took a helicopter ride over the beautiful Las Vegas skyline. Especially enjoying the proceedings was Garry’s son, who is about two years old at the moment and was delighted at the aerial adventure.

The UFC correctly captioned the post “Making core memories on fight week 🚁,” since the Garry family is likely to remember this for a long long time. However, as with anything involving Garry’s wife, fans had the usual predictable jokes, dragging Layla’s ex-husband, Richard Cullen, into this, even as other fans were far more supportive of the undefeated Irishman.

Fans react to Ian Garry’s family outing

One of the most controversial things that turned fans against Garry and his wife was the rumor that she had her ex-husband, nutritionist Richard Cullen, living and traveling with them. Of course, ‘The Future’ has clarified that he has decided to keep Cullen so close to him because he is a world-class nutritionist and helped make weight cuts easier for him.

But fans, of course, are unconcerned and take every opportunity they get to snipe at Garry for this decision, as one fan did in a subtle yet unmistakable manner: “Nutritionist is one hell of a profession nowadays” Another fan continued on this theme and wondered why Cullen wasn’t traveling with the Garry family, as he had previously done, clearly trying to be a wise guy: “Where is his nutritionist, his milfs ex-husband?”

The other controversial thing about Garry’s marriage is the age difference between him and his wife. The UFC star, after all, is 14 years younger than his wife, which some fans and former champ Sean Strickland feel is predatory on Layla’s part, accusing her of ‘trapping’ Garry. ‘The Future’ himself has clarified time and time again that this is not the case, and the reason he married Layla was because he loves her very much. But one Instagram user doesn’t know this as he commented: “Get the grandma outta there, man”

On the other hand, some fans were far more supportive of Garry and did not indulge in the usual slander against his wife or his marriage. The UFC star taking out the time to give his son an unforgettable experience made some fans take notice of Garry’s great parental instincts: “He is a good dad tho👏”

Garry and his son enjoying the Las Vegas skyline and having a good time was heart-warming to watch, which made one fan surprisingly emotional as they couldn’t help but observe: “So wholesome 🥹” Another fan was just happy that there were three seats on the chopper, clearly implying that if there were more, Cullen would have joined them for the ride: “Thank god there are three seats 😂.”

Of course, Cullen wasn’t with the Garry family on their outing, but why would the fans let facts get in the way of a good joke? What do you think about the fans’ reaction to Garry’s outing with his family?
