Ian Garry and his Midas touch continue. The hype train of the Irish fighter still rages on as he took down the welterweight veteran Neil Magny at UFC 292. The high-voltage clash on August 19 at the TD Garden in Boston carried ranking implications, and the fans expected nothing but a banger of a fight. And the two welterweights delivered.

Notably, ‘The Future’ had his wish fulfilled as Magny took the fight on short notice after Geoff Neal pulled out of the fight due to undisclosed reasons. He had previously called out the American fighter when he finished Daniel Rodriguez four months back. With a win against ‘The Haitian Sensation’, he inched closer to his dream of being the best.

Notably, the Irish fighter won the fight via unanimous decision as he swept the judges’ scorecards and jumped to 13-0. Further, Conor McGregor‘s compatriot also teased who he wanted next.

What happened in the fight at UFC 292?

Garry took out Magny’s calf early in the fight as he dropped the UFC veteran with a calf kick. He assumed the aggressor’s role as his low kicks threw Magny off. Therefore, his leg kicks troubled Magny throughout the first round, and the visuals of Magny getting dropped to the mat after a leg kick dominated the first round.

In the second round, Magny finally pushed forward. However, the leg kicks continued to trouble him as he failed to counter the heavy kicks. One of Garry’s high kicks even knocked out Magny’s mouthguard. Following this, Garry’s leg kicks drew big reactions from Magny, and he threatened to finish the fight.

The same story continued in the final round, as Garry followed up with devastating punches after landing painful kicks. With every shot, Magny wobbled. However, Magny ate up the blows and turned on survival mode as he failed to offer any counters. What was labeled as his toughest fight in the promotion proved to be total dominance.
