Is Ian Garry the new fan favorite in UFC after his epic troll of Colby Covington?

Ian Machado Garry’s road to title contention looks brighter each day. The #7 ranked Welterweight fighter has come into prominence with his impressive winning streak and a flair previously seen in a certain ‘Irishman’. ‘The Future’ is certain that his resume is missing established ‘scalps’ and one of these happens to be former title contender Colby Covington.

Ever since his unanimous decision victory over Micheal Venom Page at UFC 303, Garry has been constant in luring ‘Chaos’ to the Octagon, and needless to say, these attempts have been futile. But it doesn’t seem that the undefeated prospect is done with his pursuit just yet. In a recent Instagram post, Garry posted a video featuring his son in a parody video. In the clip, ‘The Future’ can be seen asking a hilarious question.

He said, “Leo! What does Colby Covington do?” to which his son simply laughed and then ran away. Implying that ‘Chaos’ has been ducking him, Garry then chuckled and added, “He’s just running away!”

Have an interesting take?

One fan stated, “That is too good! It’s a 10-7 round for him [Leo]” Garry is not the only fighter that has piqued interest in fighting Covington. Recently, reports emerged that Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier will square off against ‘Chaos’ at Welterweight with the two athletes even going back and forth on their respective social media handles. However, this angle too didn’t come to fruition and fans were left agonizingly close to yet another blockbuster encounter. One fan shared his mind on the same with a cheeky jibe, “Colby when Ian or Dustin are mentioned!”

Another fan took an amusing take directed towards the Florida native. The fan wrote, “Hahahaha! Funny and true! Colby needs to take that fight!” Not everyone in the digital ‘La La Land’ shared the same view on Garry’s clip. It is public knowledge that Covington is a seasoned talker himself and has gone off the hook on multiple occasions. This in turn has raised many eyebrows in the past and is something that his former opponents are aware of. Some fans were spot-on in their reaction to the viral clip. One of them wrote, “Now when Colby responds with something outrageous, everyone’s gonna say he’s out of line! Ahh, the cycle of life!” This was concerning the controversy floating around Gary and his wife Layla Machado.

Sharing the same sentiment, another fan commented, “Yeah right! No one even wants you to fight Colby after that MVP performance of yours” highlighting Garry’s lackluster decision win at UFC 303. Some fans were having none of these games and were quick to express their frustration over the ‘supposed’ future clash. They wrote, “This is getting repetitive! It was cute at the start but now it just feels forced and planned!”

A rare contingent of fans were neutral in their assessment of the entire clip and their comments displayed just that. A fan wrote, “I don’t like either of these fighters but this was quite funny!”

Despite the mixed reactions, the future title contender is in no mood to slow down and present his case. Covington has been inactive ever since his grudge fight with Leon Edwards at UFC 296. Nevertheless, fans expect him to be back soon. It will be a curious situation to how this incident influences UFC’s high command. Do you think Covington will reply to the jibe? Will this fight eventually go down? Why or Why not? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
