Shavkat Rakhmonov recently revealed a stunning truth about training with his UFC 310 opponent Ian Garry and beating him. The Kazakh star even brought up the instance when ‘The Future’s wife, Layla Machado Garry, asked to film the footage of the sparring session, which he agreed to without any hesitation. However, the Irishman isn’t impressed with ‘Nomad’s statements and has challenged him to do what he did in training this weekend.
“If he’s hanging on to something like that from training two or three years ago, then guess what? Do it on Saturday night, do it underneath the bright lights [and] do when it matters most,” Ian Garry told ‘talkSPORT’. The 15-0 star claims to have developed significantly since he had last trained with Shavkat Rakhmonov, and is planning to leave the 18-0 star “speechless.”
“I promise you now, he’s not ready for the speed and their beauty. He’s going to look at me and go, ‘Oh my God! This guy is beautiful. What do I do?’ He’s going to be left speechless. He’s not gonna know what to do,” Ian Garry added. “‘Wow, this kid is special,’ and that’s all he’s gonna think.”

Meanwhile, Ian Garry didn’t even deny anything that Shavkat Rakhmonov had to say about their sparring. When asked if it really happened, ‘The Future’ said, “Yes.” However, he claims to have beaten some top names in his own right, but unlike ‘Nomad’, Garry isn’t willing to bring up those names, while adding that what happens in training doesn’t really matter.

“If I told you about the people whom I have absolutely burned and choked in training, you’d sit here saying I am the best fighter in the world already. But the truth is, we’re all learning,” Ian Garry added. Well, many people have their eyes on this battle of the undefeated, and believe it or not, a UFC veteran claims that Shavkat will have a first-time experience inside the Octagon this weekend.
A welterweight veteran believes Ian Garry and Shavkat Rakhmonov will go the distance
36-year-old UFC stalwart Michael Chiesa is deeply invested in the upcoming clash between the two fellow welterweights, and making his own analysis with just days to go for UFC 310. The ‘Maverick’ seems to believe that Ian Garry might give Shavkat Rakhmonov the first dose of going all 25 minutes without a finish, despite the fact that the Kazakh star has a 100 finishing rate.

“I think this is going to be the first time that Shavkat goes the distance and I say that with all due respect to him [but] I just think that Ian Garry, he’s a tough out, he’s elusive, he’s confident,” Michael Chiesa told Ariel Hewani. “A lot of times the aura that Shavkat brings to the octagon can kind of break guys down in a sense. I mean, the guy is undefeated, all finishes. He can knock you out, he can submit you, he can do everything.”
Ian Garry has been asking to fight Shavkat Rakhmonov for a while now, expressing his urge to hand ‘Nomad’ his first zero. And with the recent revelation about their sparring session, it’s understandable why the 27-year-old’s looking to settle the score in front of the whole world.
