Ian Garry is many things: flashy, unapologetic, and undeniably loud. But above all, he’s a storm brewing in the welterweight skies. As UFC 315 looms and question marks swirl over Belal Muhammad vs. Jack Della Maddalena, ‘The Future’ is already throwing his name in the ring! At the moment, Garry is set to take on Carlos Prates at the main event of UFC on ESPN 66.

But after that? The Irishman, brimming with confidence and charisma, claims he’s already solved Dana White’s biggest headache. And if you ask him, he’s not just ready, he’s already halfway packed. But not before taking the time to put the rest of the welterweight division on notice!

Ian Garry throws his hat in the ring for UFC 315 as he goes scorched earth on fellow welterweights

The countdown to Ian Garry’s showdown with Carlos Prates is ticking down, but the Irishman has another plan brewing in his mind. During a recent interview, shared on Instagram by ‘Full Send MMA’, Garry was asked whether he would answer the call if the UFC and Dana White came calling for him to step into the Octagon at UFC 315.

Without hesitation, Garry stated, “My flight’s already booked.”

When the interviewer, taken aback at this claim, pressed for confirmation, ‘The Future’ stated, “A 100%. Saturday night, Carlos Prates is going to get his a— handed to him, and I’m going straight to Montreal because that belt will inevitably be wrapped around my waist.”

Of course, Garry couldn’t talk about the welterweight landscape without tossing a few grenades. Taking a page out of Conor McGregor’s book of trash-talking, the Irishman stated, “Joaquin Buckley barely speaks f—- English, and Sean Brady looks like he’s out of the Lord of the Rings. So none gives a f— about these guys.”

Then came the death blow to a familiar name. With a cheeky grin on his face, Garry reached into his pocket and stated, “Neil Magny, here look, there’s his soul, look. You watched that fight right? Neil Magny’s never been the same since I took his soul. It’s right there, it’s in the bottom of my hand.”

What’s your perspective on:

Is Ian Garry the next big thing in UFC, or just another loudmouth with no substance?

Have an interesting take?

Theatrics? Absolutely. But there’s method in the madness. Garry wants to make noise. And right now, in a division desperate for star power, he knows sound bites matter just as much as scorecards. And that just might be what Dana White needs.

The UFC 315 main event—Belal Muhammad vs. Jack Della Maddalena—is promising. But what if either pulls out? What if fate, as it often does, intervenes? That’s where Garry becomes the UFC and Dana White’s golden parachute. If he defeats Carlos Prates, and he’s certain he will, he’ll be in Montreal, in shape, and on standby. Just in case.

But it’s more than a backup plan. It’s a chess move. In his interview, he explained, “I’ve got the whole of Ireland behind me, I’ve got Brazil, I’ve got America in f—  love with me and divided and hate me because of a lot of things, but at the end of the day, I fight. I’m a fighter who fights the best in the world.”

Because if anything goes sideways, the UFC doesn’t need to scramble. Garry’s already there. And if he wins the welterweight crown by stepping in as a backup at UFC 315, he’ll have solved another one of Dana White’s problems, Belal Muhammad’s unwillingness to fight his training partner, Islam Makachev!

‘The Future’ is ready to welcome Islam Makhachev to the welterweight division

There’s been a quiet storm brewing in the background of the UFC. The lightweight champ, already crowned pound-for-pound king, has been eyeing a second belt. Now here’s where things get interesting. Belal Muhammad has made it clear—he won’t fight Makhachev. Too much history. Too much respect. And Dana White? He’s made it clear he’s tired of this “we’re friends” narrative.

Enter Ian Garry. He’s not just open to fighting Islam Makhachev, he’s itching for it. In an interview with Shakiel Mahjouri, ‘The Future’ confessed, “I think he’s an absolute disaster for everyone in the division if he comes up and doesn’t have to cut weight, he’ll still be big, he’ll still be strong, he’s the perfect example of the new evolution of fighters, great everywhere.”

But admiration doesn’t mean hesitation, as he continued, “I have nothing but respect for the man. But I’m someone who wants to test himself against the best in the world. And I’d love to test myself against him.”

And here’s the kicker, he’s doing what Dana White has often implored his fighters to do, fight anyone, anytime. No alliances. No hesitation. So, will Ian Garry get his chance to shake up the welterweight landscape at UFC 315? Or is he overlooking the threat of Carlos Prates? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below!
