UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards is not exactly known for pulling any gimmicks or partaking in any sort of trash-talking to promote his fights. And in spite of this, the 31-year-old has surprisingly gone on to achieve the highest accolades that any fighter could dream of. Now, since he has already secured UFC gold and is headed for a crucial rematch with the man he took the title from, fans would argue that Edwards could do with a bit of smack-talking in order to add some hype to the fight.

And although the Englishman hasn’t necessarily done this, it appears as if his team back in Birmingham might have planned to do so. In an image of Edwards posing in his gym, fans noticed that the team had used a still of Usman getting knocked out, reminding fighters to always protect themselves during a fight.

When a page dedicated to MMA posted the image, fans quickly jumped into the comment section. Fans of the Englishman expressed their confidence that he would pull another win in the rematch while Kamaru Usman‘s supporters claimed Edwards got lucky the last time.

One fan pointed out that telling fighters to always defend themselves was a pretty solid idea.

“Best advice tbh.”

Fans of Usman forecasted a win for the former welterweight champ.

“Gonna be hilarious if he gets slept, also I thought that was Leon and Ali I was like wtf Ali shredded now.”

“I wouldn’t want to be Leon right now, even he knows Kamaru is coming for him, he got lucky last time around.”

“What? Kamaru winning or?”

Edwards too didn’t lack any support in the comments.

“Leon will ko Usman with a front kick.”

“As you should.”

“Leon’s physique is crazy aesthetic wtf.”

The new welterweight king will open up his title defense with a rematch against Usman set for UFC 286.

The Jamaican-born 31-year-old will head into his fight, exuding confidence knowing that he has the backing of the English crowd. Another added advantage is that Edwards doesn’t have to acclimatize himself to the English conditions. This is important because his last fight in Salt lake City had seen him struggle because of the elevated levels of the region.
