Justin Gaethje has proved that he is still strong in the game. The way he came out against Rafel Fiziev at UFC 286 will assure fans that he is still good to fight for the belt someday. Rafael Fiziev was left with a bloodied face after the fifth round. It proved that Gaethje had a lot more to do in his UFC career. In a recent interview with Brett Okamoto for ESPN MMA, Gaethje talked about his fight against Fiziev and how he feels about the Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler fight.

Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor are coaching against each other in ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ season 31. It is being speculated that Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler will fight sometime during the latter part of this year. Justin Gaethje revealed that he was approached for being the coach against another fighter, but it didn’t materialize. Gaethje, however, was of the strong opinion that Conor McGregor should not be given a title shot even if he wins against Michael Chandler.
Justin Gaethje doesn’t want the UFC to give McGregor a title shot
Talking to Brett Okamoto Gaethje mentioned how he was once offered the coaching role for TUF. While Gaethje had agreed to take up the assignment, the other party didn’t. Gaethje said he had no interest in the Michael Chandler vs Conor McGregor and called it a fight between “two clowns”. ‘The Highlight’ said, he would not like to see Conor McGregor get a title shot just after he wins against Michael Chandler.

Brett Okamoto asked Gaethje if he thought the Chandler vs McGregor fight will have any kind of impact on his career. Responding to this Gaethje said, “that’s tough tough one um you know would I quit if Conor won and they gave him a title shot? probably. You know that’s how that’s how hurt I would be by the actions of the company that I represent but that’s out of my control so you know. I just really hope that doesn’t happen yeah.”

Justin Gaethje would like to be champion once more
Justin Gaethje has tasted the belt once as an interim champion. Gaethje defeated Tony Ferguson to get his belt in 2020 at UFC 249. He could not retain it for long as Khabib Nurmagomedov came in his way. Gaethje has not been able to keep his winning streak but has three wins in his last five fights.
Gaethje sits on a career record of 24 wins and 4 losses with 19 knockouts. He is currently ranked #3 in the UFC lightweight division and is a very promising contender for the belt in his division.
