Jean Silva has always brought a wild edge to the Octagon, but his latest victory over Melsik Baghdasaryan took things to another level. Representing The Fighting Nerds team, the Brazilian standout not only secured his fifth (one on DWCS) consecutive UFC win but also extended his overall 12-fight finishing streak—a testament to his dominant style. And in true Silva fashion, his post-fight moment was short, bold, and to the point. Wasting no time, Silva set his sights on a top featherweight contender from Arkansas, issuing a direct callout. “Bryce Mitchell. Dana put me in front of him, and I’ll do the job.”

A potential clash with Bryce Mitchell would be a massive step forward for Silva, potentially launching him into the upper echelon at 145lbs if he maintains his dominant run. Even the head honcho acknowledged the growing excitement, revealing during the post-fight press conference that many within the fight community are eager to see this matchup materialize. And now, it seems ‘Thug Nasty’ himself is ready to answer the call—though no official announcement has been made just yet.

Mitchell was originally set to compete in a grappling showdown against rising Israeli MMA prospect Ilay Barzilay as part of Karate Combat’s Pit Submission Series on February 28. However, he has since withdrawn from the match, stating that he needs to stay ready for an upcoming fight.

The 30-year-old took to Instagram to share a message with fans, hinting at something bigger on the horizon: “Im dun messin around with any grapplin matches for a while I have to fite when I have the chance. and things just got stirred up in my division this week so I need to be on standby. I won’t make the mistake of takin a grapplin match then cancelin for a fite again. sorry about it for everyone who had their hopes up. like i said, somethin better is coming. so it will all work out.”

Mitchell is no stranger to controversy, often making headlines for his inflammatory statements. He once stirred outrage by referring to Adolf Hitler as a “good guy” and even saying he’d like to go fishing with the infamous dictator. More recently, on his podcast, the surging 145fer reignited the debate by doubling down on his belief in a flat Earth, adding yet another layer to his history of unconventional views. However, it is safe to say that Jean Silva has never been a fan of his beliefs and the pair once engaged in a social media brawl and heated up the rivalry.

Fresh off a commanding performance at UFC Seattle, “Lord” added another highlight to his resume, securing a stunning knockout over Melsik Baghdasaryan. Riding that momentum, Silva didn’t hesitate to call out Mitchell during the post-fight press conference. The Brazilian made it clear that he doesn’t quite agree with the Arkansas native’s belief system and stated, “As far as everything else (that Mitchell has said recently), I think there are things you just can’t tolerate, especially when you’re a public figure and say them out loud.”

Unsurprisingly, the 30-year-old didn’t take the criticism lightly and took to his X account to respond to it. He tweeted, “There’s only one LORD, and it ain’t you, fool. You need a country a– whoopin’. It will humble you just right.” Silva, however, remained unfazed. Instead of backing down, he fired back with a sharp dig at Bryce Mitchell’s flat Earth beliefs, making it clear he wasn’t letting up on the challenge.

The Brazilian responded, “Ok, ok, but I’m gonna beat you until you see the Earth is round.” Silva has been on a roll in the division and has impressed one and all with his latest performances.
