Brady, one of the best fighters in the Welterweight division, dominated ‘Durinho’ in all five rounds during the main event of UFC Vegas 97. The 31-year-old fighter retreated to the Brazilian with his striking and knocked him down like no one else in his entire career. With the action coming in the distance, Burns outplayed in all sections and assimilated a tough defeat by unanimous decision (50-45, 49-46, 50-45).

Brady goes for the top fight after a great run

Brady, eighth in the ranking, had just submitted Kelvin Gastelum at UFC Austin. Their only loss to date was to reigning champions Belal Muhammad. Burns, who recently said he had about five fights left in the tank, is experiencing a third straight loss. The 38-year-old fighter was coming off losses to Muhammad and Jack Della Maddalena. Now fans surely would want to see Brady go all out against Covington. However, it would be upon Chaos now to decide whether he accepts the challenge.

His name is surely being quoted as one of the frontrunners for a fight against Dustin Poirier as The Diamond prepares to hang up his gloves. Former middleweight king Michael Bisping also supports either Covington or Max Holloway as the final competitor to The Diamond. The UFC veteran believes that while Covington vs. Poirier would be a great fight due to their long-standing feud, The Blessed facing the former UFC Lightweight Champion would be a great fight. He wrote on X, “Colby for storyline. Holloway would be awesome though.”

However, for now, Poirier has shrugged off Covington as his final opponent in a recent interview as he said, “He’ll never make money with me.” The decision came despite Covington continuing to publicly challenge Poirier. Chaos wants to be Poirier’s final nemesis so badly that he even goes as far as accusing ‘The Diamond’ of dodging the opportunity of settling things inside the Octagon. As per Chaos, Poirier is scared of losing his final fight against the MMA fighter.

Poirier’s decision surely would’ve disappointed fans as they are familiar with the heated rivalry between the two MMA greats. But Brady surely would be pleased with this response. After all, he can finally get his hands on his dream opponent now. But what do you think? Should Brady get a fight against Covington? Let us know in the comments.
