Colby Covington can hardly contain his excitement as he looks forward to his much-anticipated return to the octagon. After over a year out of action, the news of an assured title shot has certainly left him feeling ecstatic. However, this announcement has not been well-received by the MMA world, who have expressed their disappointment in no uncertain terms.
Last March, ‘Chaos’ fought his friend-turned-arch nemesis, Jorge Masvidal, and emerged victorious with a unanimous decision. Since then, the 35-year-old fighter has been out of action, but he recently stepped in as a back-up for the UFC 286 headliner between Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman.
Now, with the title shot in sight, it seems that Covington isn’t taking anything for granted. In fact, he has added a black belt to his name ahead of the highly touted fight with ‘Rocky’. The fans didn’t see that coming from afar, but they have reacted by rooting for him all the way.
