“I Was Just Trying to Do My Job”- Hollywood Star Michael Jai White’s Wife, Gillian White, Opens Up on “Really Strong Role” in 2019 Drama Series ‘The Oval’

The MMA world would be familiar to Gillian White as the wife of MMA practitioner Michael Jai White. Similar to Michael Jai White, Gillian White also has a passion for acting. She played a remarkable role in the drama series ‘The Oval.’ In the series, she was the former US Press Secretary, Diane Wilmont. The 48-year-old actress was born in Los Angeles and raised in Altadena. White was a highly talented student-athlete who was a basketball star in high school. Unlike her husband, she was not introduced to MMA back in the day. As a young girl, she wanted to become an FBI agent.

 In her recent interview with Digital Journal, she described about her character in ‘The Oval’. She said, “Tyler Perry told me that he needed me on his show [The Oval] and that I was ‘really good.’ He created the role of Press Secretary, which was a really strong role. It was fun to play Diane.” Talking further on the topic, she added, “I wanted to play that role hard like she didn’t take any mess from anyone, especially the president. I wanted them to see that I was just trying to do my job, be a good person, and do the right things for the country. My character wasn’t vindictive or bitter. She was just doing her job.” ‘The Oval’ is a 2019 drama series created, written and directed by Tyler Perry.

In 2021, Gillan White took to her Instagram handle to announce the second season of the show. After posting the trailer of the series, she wrote, “My character FORMER US Press Secretary Diane Wilmont is back for SEASON 2 of Tyler Perry’s The Oval coming February. After her last season’s MIC DROP, let’s see what she has up her sleeve next!” From the words of White, it is clear that her character in ‘The Oval’ is something she holds so close.
