McCann talked about her decision to take time off from the Octagon after her loss to Erin Blanchfield.

Molly McCann couldn’t stop crying after the loss at UFC 281

Molly McCann went into the fight at UFC 281 with a 3-win streak. Before Erin Blanchfield defeated her, McCann admitted that she had been crying constantly for several months. She also admitted that she was feeling overwhelmed with emotions before her fight at Madison Square Garden because of all the publicity. In her post-fight interview at UFC 281, she mentioned how deeply she felt ‘devastated’ about the fight.

“In August I hit my ceiling in terms of my mental capacity. I was exhausted mentally, physically, and emotionally. I was getting to grips with being fairly known – but nobody can prepare you for not having a personal life anymore,” said McCann.

McCann confessed that there were a few months when she had trouble sleeping. She told Sky Sports, “This dull, anxious feeling in my belly and I couldn’t stop crying. I was just completely done in and I couldn’t cope with how much my life had changed and my mind hadn’t been given time to catch up.”

McCann was about to get snubbed by the UFC after her losses to Lara Procopio and Taila Santos. But her 3-win streak helped her get through that predicament. But facing a devastating first-round loss to Erin Blanchfield impacted her deeply.
