Joe Rogan is the charismatic host of one of the most successful podcasts, streaming on Spotify, The Joe Rogan Experience. Now, the show is very distinctive in its visual feel, with a great studio and swanky lighting. But there was a time when Rogan had to make do with whatever he had, to shoot the podcast. In the earlier days, the show had little to no budget. However, Rogan was extremely resourceful and managed to shoot the video on a low-quality camera at his own home. Also used a cheap microphone and called over his stand-up buddies to have a chat. That was the real, “Joe Rogan Experience”. In a recent episode, Rogan explained a key problem with that home setup and why he had to make the shift.
Joe Rogan knew he had to get a place for his podcast
In episode #1915 of JRE, the host got together with the stand-up comic, Brian Simpson. The former ‘Fear Factor’ host felt the need to explain why he had to conduct his podcast at an expensive studio setup, instead of his comfortable luxury mansion.

Even though viewers have grown accustomed to the cozy background and a distinctive wood theme, there was a time when he worked out of his house. But, the UFC analyst decided that he can never mix the two environments, as there could be consequences.
Rogan explained, “I realized early on when I started doing my podcast…”
“I had to take it outta my house. I was like, ‘I gotta take it outta here…’”
This was before the podcast became an enormous hit and gained an average of 12 million listeners, per episode. Rogan lives with his wife, Jessica Ditzel, and two daughters.

Back then, Joe Rogan’s daughters were too young, and the house wasn’t too big. So, usually, he had to keep his young daughters away from his esteemed guests, for their own safety. Also had to worry about all the smoke that comes out of his room, which has been a mainstay in JRE since its inception.
Rogan said, “My daughters were really young, and I was bringing crazy people over and pot was coming out of the f*cking door and into the hallway.”
Therefore, the UFC commentator shifted to his man-cave podcast studio, which we all see today.
