The No 2 ranked welterweight, Colby Covington and the undefeated fighter, Khamzat Chimaev have been hitting headlines for the verbal war going on between them. At the moment, both Covington and Chimaev are preparing themselves for their bouts in the near future. Chimaev is bulking up and preparing himself to make a permanent move to middleweight. On the other hand, Covington has a golden opportunity coming his way. After the UFC 286 bout, the UFC president, Dana White, declared that Covington would lock horns with the current welterweight champion, Leon Edwards, for the belt.
White also added that his decision is permanent and that it’s not going to be changed after the clash between Gilbert Burns and Jorge Masvidal at UFC 287. Furthermore, ‘Chaos’ served as a backup for the UFC 286 main event and was present at the weigh-in as well. The war between the two began when Covington spoke to reporters prior to UFC 286. ‘Chaos’ called ‘Borz’ “unprofessional” when talking to the media. Additionally, he mentioned that he never wanted to see him again. Soon after these demeaning remarks, Chimaev took to his YouTube channel to claim that Covington was nothing but a liar. However, the clash outside the octagon didn’t end there.

In a recent Instagram post by MMA Fighting, Covington is seen saying, “I was never offered [Khamzat Chimaev]. He is lying through his F*** teeth, dude. I was ready to fight him. I accepted, the UFC, they called and approached me, I said, ‘absolutely, yes’ right away. ‘Let’s do this. I’m going to end his hype, he has got no cardio, it’s an easy fight for me.’ I told that to Dana White and Hunter Campbell.“

Through his YouTube channel, the Swedish fighter further clarified that he never got to confront Covington, since he does not stay back at a given location, but instead rushes the scene. When the two were training at the UFC Performance Institute, Covington never stayed to have a conversation with Chimaev. All their encounters were brief. Furthermore, Borz blames Covington for not agreeing to a fight between the two, and then lying to indicate otherwise.
