The 60-year-old comedian recently appeared on Andrew Schulz‘s Flagrant podcast. The episode featured Joey Diaz talking about anything and everything about himself and other trending topics. During the conversation, Diaz talked about being a novice in LA and not being aware of many things around. Describing his first time meeting Joe Rogan, Diaz said, “When I met Joe Rogan, he was on News Radio. I didn’t f**king know what NewsRadio was… I didn’t watch TV for years. I didn’t know what NYPD was till I got to LA.”
He continued, “I didn’t know d*ck. So when I met Joe, they kept saying NewsRadio. I thought he was a weather guy or f**king anchorman or something.”
Having said that, Joey Diaz even talked about the early days of Joe Rogan and appreciated the commitment he had for stand-up.
‘NewsRadio’ was an America Sitcom and Rogan appeared in it from 1995 to 1999. He played the character of Joe Garrelli, an electrician and handyman at the show’s fictional news radio station.

Later in the discussion on Flagrant, ‘CoCo’ Diaz talked about how the UFC commentator was back in the day. “Back then he was still a gorilla on all fours… Joe was rough, tough and inspiring,” said the Cuban-American comedian.
He added, “Because Joe- I always loved stand-up but Joe put the love into me… Because he’s on NewsRadio. He’s making $30,000 a week, and he’s still coming to the sore after a 15-hour day to do a 15-minute set. A 15 dollar set.”
