Joe Rogan has never been one to hold back his opinions, whether on fighting, science, or even superheroes. The UFC commentator and podcaster has already expressed his respect for Marvel, but when it comes to DC, specifically Superman, his opinion is clear: he is not a fan. During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience, Rogan went beyond disinterest to outright reject the character, labeling him “stupid” and pointing out what he believes is a major fault in Superman’s overall concept.

The conversation began when Matt Serra, a former UFC champion and guest on the most recent episode of Fight Experience, mentioned the teaser for the latest Superman movie. “Hey, did you guys see the new Superman trailer? Have you see that s—?” Serra asked, hoping to get Rogan’s reaction. Instead of being excited, the JRE host quickly shut off the discussion. “No, I’m a grown man. “I don’t even like Superman,” he explained. When Serra pressed further, asking whether the UFC commentator was really not going to watch the movie, Joe Rogan doubled down, providing the most harsh response of the night.

He gave an answer that questioned the whole concept of Superman. “Watch my lips. I am not going to watch that movie. I think Superman is stupid. I think it’s just like living in space. If you were living in space, eventually your body would decay. You come from a place with more gravity; it’s not going to be good for you on Earth. When you get back to your planet, you’re not even going to be able to walk, because it’s stupid. He can go back; he can make the world go back in time because he can go so fast in a circle.”

This isn’t simply a casual criticism; the UFC commentator completely rejects the logic behind Superman’s abilities in the podcast. His thesis is based on physics and biology, claiming that if Superman originates from a planet with substantially heavier gravity, his body will most likely suffer while exposed to Earth’s environment. Joe Rogan also mocked the classic Superman: The movie scene in which the Man of Steel reverses time by flying in circles around Earth, describing it as a stupid and cheap storytelling tactic. However, this isn’t the first time he went off on the iconic DC superhero.

Joe Rogan reveals why he prefers Marvel over DC

Joe Rogan’s argument presents an intriguing point. While superheroes are clearly imaginary, there is an element of realism that makes certain characters more appealing. Batman, for example, is grounded in human limitations; his power, knowledge, and technology all make sense in some way. But Superman? The UFC commentator views him as a figure whose abilities are too convenient, with no true struggle or constraints, leaving him un-relatable and, ultimately, uninteresting.

Maybe that is why he proudly claims he is a Marvel fan instead. In fact, the JRE host has always supported Marvel. Whether he’s talking about the realism of Thor’s combat skills or the emotional weight of Iron Man’s sacrifice, his love for Marvel storytelling is obvious. He said on JRE #1468, “I didn’t like DC that much, but I was a giant Marvel guy.” But why did he choose the Stan Lee universe over DC? Because of realism. “Listen, man, that axe throw against Thanos? That’s some high-level stuff right there. I was talking to my buddy, who’s an expert in Norse mythology and ancient weapon techniques, and he says the rotational torque Thor generates is absolutely insane.”

What’s your perspective on:

Is Superman's invincibility boring compared to Marvel's flawed heroes? Does Rogan have a point?

Have an interesting take?

However, his decision also appears to be motivated by a general dislike of Superman. He is unimpressed by the idea of a nearly invincible alien whose main struggle revolves around a luminous green rock. The JRE host says superheroes should have a sense of vulnerability and a realistic task to conquer, which Superman lacks altogether. But what do you think? Do you agree with his opinions?
