The JRE host was joined by guest Josh Barnett, who had conflicting views on this entire incident. The individuals hashed out what they thought really happened at the Oscars and why Will Smith probably lashed out as he did.
Joe Rogan thought that Chris Rock’s joke towards Will Smith’s wife was mild and something that wasn’t insulting. The UFC commentator said, “First of all, that is a, that whole scene doing that in that manner in that place, is a great example of what’s wrong with the glorification of just being able to go up to someone and smack them in the face.”

In disagreement with Barnett thinking that Will Smith thought and acted out, Rogan added, “I don’t think he was thinking that far ahead at all… I think he’s being emotionally fragile, and he acted on impulse. I think it’s a foolish impulse that you do when you know there’s no consequences.”
Josh Barnett thought that Chris Rock probably had malicious intent with his joke; Joe Rogan clapped back, saying, “How do you have malicious intent in a mild joke?… This is all rational thinking about an irrational act. He was emotionally fragile, and he acted on impulse in a staggeringly stupid way.”
