Khabib Nurmagomedov says he won’t confront his friends Khamzat Chimaev and current UFC lightweight fighter Islam Makhachev anymore. While he coaches the 29-year-old, ‘The Eagle’ says he has no desire to confront him.
Islam Makhachev is currently #5 in the lightweight division of the ultimate fighting championship. He is one of the best fighters in the division right now. ‘The Eagle’ himself coaches Makhachev for his fights in the promotion and surely the results reflect in his fighting resume.
However, in a recent interview, Nurmagomedov expressed no desire to confront his friends further in the sport. He said, “I have no desire to confront anyone anymore. Everyone has their own opinion. I’m past the age where I want to confront everyone about everything.”

He added, “I don’t think it’s right to confront someone like that anymore. I tell that to youth as well. And I tell them not to repeat my mistakes. So I won’t confront him, but we’ll wish him luck. We’ll be rooting for all our guys that’ll be fighting in Abu Dhabi. There’ll be a lot of them, almost the entire card. So we’ll avoid any conflict.”
Even though Nurmagomedov won’t confront Makhachev further in the sport, he still believes that the 29-year-old has the potential to be the next champion of UFC. Moreover, ‘The Eagle’ also believes Makhachev is better than him and can surpass his legacy in the fight game.
Khabib Nurmagomedov Believes Islam Makhachev Can Surpass His Legacy
Islam Makhachev is currently one of the best fighters in the lightweight roster. The (20-1) record holder has only one loss in his professional fighting career. He is currently on an eight-fight win streak. Few more greens in Makhachev’s column will surely earn him a title shot next.
The former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is using all his skills and experience to train the 29-year-old.
In a recent interview, Nurmagomedov said, “Islam is very close to becoming a champion. You can make a comparison. When I was growing up, I looked up to Shamil Zavurov. He was much older than me, but we were the same weight.”

If Makhachev keeps the same performance in his next matches, he will rightfully earn the title of being the next Khabib Nurmagomedov in the division.
