‘The Future’ was initially set to fight Geoff Neal, but the latter pulled out due to an injury. So Garry had relatively less time to prepare for a new opponent in Neil Magny. However, he was dominant all the way through. Ian Garry said, “I went out there and I surgically just destroyed him in every aspect.”

Moreover, Garry mentioned that he wasn’t focused too much on displaying his skills. Instead, he was more focused on keeping the pressure on Magny throughout the entire three rounds. ‘The Future’ added, “I didn’t need to show off too many skills. I know patience and output and just constant movement would suffocate him.” Moreover, he claimed to have made Neil Magny look like an amateur at UFC 292.

‘The Future’ claimed he was looking to prove a point in this fight

Ian Garry had already mentioned his urge to fight Neil Magny after winning his last fight at UFC Charlotte. Moreover, he stated that the fight against the veteran was all about the chance to show people that he was an elite fighter. “Today was about challenges, how elite I am against a guy who’s had the most octagon time in welterweight history,” said the 25-year-old fighter.

The 25-year-old even made a bold claim by stating that Neil Magny, who’s fought in the UFC for over a decade, looked like an amateur against him. He believes that ‘The Haitian Sensation’ looked like he never fought before UFC 292. Ian Garry further added, “He’s had 31 fights at welterweight. He’s been ranked since before I was an amateur. And I went out there and made him look like he’s never fought before.”
