Israel Adesanya is already one of the greatest middleweights in UFC history. If not for Anderson Silva, with his 10 title defenses and uncanny ability to make even championship-caliber fighters like journeymen, he would easily be considered the best. He proved this once again with his victory over Alex Pereira in their rematch at UFC 287 in April.

In the post-fight octagon interview, he told fans that he wished they could feel the emotion he was feeling right now, at least once in their life. Pereira had beat ‘Izzy’ convincingly in an unexpected victory at UFC 281 last year. Most were expecting Pereira to win in their rematch, too. However, with a cunning strategy, Izzy was able to lay a trap for the Brazilian and stop him in the second round. And the Kiwi has revealed what was going through his mind when in the moments leading up to his victory.

Israel Adesanya spoke to the ‘Combat TV’ channel on YouTube. The interviewer described his feelings during the second round of the fight. He thought the 34-year-old was in trouble after being cornered by ‘Poatan’ against the cage and was ecstatic when ‘Stylebender’ knocked out Pereira and he realized it was a trap set by the Yoruba. Adesanya said that he wanted to make the people feel a rush of adrenaline & dopamine and that wanted people to feel the level of joy and elation he was feeling after defeating Pereira.

“Like I wanted to make people feel something instantly. Like those even those who don’t like me. I want them to feel like yes he’s backed up again he’s backed up again, and those who love they’re like ‘Oh, no. He’s backed up, he’s backed up. Like that rush of adrenaline and dopamine and all that, I wanted that to just fill them. To be honest, like I just want people to feel that level of happiness, just once in your life. And I meant it I spoke from my heart spoke from the truth and yeah I was free,” he said.
