Jon Jones is getting closer to his octagon return at heavyweight. ‘Bones’ last UFC fight was a close title defense against Dominick Reyes at UFC 247, where he further cemented his status as the greatest light heavyweight of all time. Subsequently, he vacated his title in August 2020 and announced that he would be moving up to the heavyweight division.

However, it’s been more than a year and he hasn’t returned to the octagon. He went all of 2021 without competing and even had a falling out with the UFC. But it seems like ‘Bones‘ getting closer to his heavyweight debut.

Francis Ngannou is all praises for Jon Jones

When Jones decided to move up a division, one of the most anticipated matchups was him taking on Francis Ngannou. There were talks of the two of them fighting, but it fell off because of Jones reportedly asking for ‘Deontay Wilder’ money.

‘The Predator’, in a recent interview, talked about Jones and was all praises for the former light heavyweight champion.

He said, “That is one of the most talented guys in the sport. He’s been a light heavyweight champion for a decade, almost, and retained his belt for that long. In a division that people hit so hard, I think you must have something. He’s well-rounded. It can be striking, wrestling, ground game. He’s everywhere.”

“He’s definitely one of the best fighters in the sport with no doubt. Not long ago, we were working so hard for that fight, it didn’t happen. I think the UFC didn’t push that fight. But yes, that was the fight we were looking at, and I think he was looking at that fight as well. Because we believe this will be a massive fight and great for everyone.”
