Khabib Nurmagomedov is one of the most dominant stars that the UFC has ever had. The Dagestani fighter tore up the lightweight division and dominated it during his stint in the promotion. ‘The Eagle’ is known as one of the greatest wrestlers we have seen in mixed martial arts history.
Most of the Dagestani fighters in the UFC have impeccable wrestling skills and the Republic has produced many fine fighters. In a recent video that has gone viral on the internet, Nurmagomedov recalled a funny encounter he had with Yoel Romero in Dagestan. He recalled seeing Romero eating ice cream on the streets of Dagestan when he was 14 years old.

Khabib said, “Okay Romero, I see you. I see you Romero. It was like almost 20 years ago when you come to Dagestan and you were wrestling in Dagestan. I remember. I see you in the street, you eating ice cream. You remember this? It was when I was 14 years.”

The two fighters both went on to dominate in the UFC. Nurmagomedov went on to be an undisputed champion and Romero went on the be a title contender. Yoel Romero went to Makhachkala, Dagestan to practice his wrestling skills. In an interview he had with MMA fighting, the middleweight praised the level of wrestling in Dagestan and dubbed it the best place for wrestling.
Khabib Nurmagomedov describes his life after retirement
The former UFC lightweight king, Khabib Nurmagomedov, has now been retired for over a year and a half now. He hung up his gloves after his bout against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254 and has no plans on making a professional fighting comeback. After his retirement, Nurmagomedov has been dabbling in multiple business ventures and also started his own fighting promotion, Eagle FC.
In a recent interview for Eagle FC, the former UFC champion spoke about how his life has become after he has retired.

He said, “I think it’s changed a lot you know. I stopped like training every day twice. I was training all my life every day like four-five hours at least, and now I’m all like training only like one and a half one and a half maybe maximum two hours. My schedule little bit changed. Now I focus on Eagle FC and a couple more other, my business projects.”
