Social media has become extremely powerful in today’s day and age. Almost everyone on the planet has access to it and the various types of content available on it. Some good, some bad, and some downright nasty. Also troubling is the ease with which everyone can obtain it all. This is something Joe Rogan talked about in his most recent episode of the JRE with guest, Mike Baker. The conversation started with Baker talking about getting iPhones for his kids, but being concerned about all the wildly horrendous things available online. This made the UFC commentator talk about his own Instagram account where he witnesses the possibly most gruesome things imaginable.

Rogan said, “Just on Instagram, I see people get murdered every day. Every day. I see shootouts every day. I see executions, every day (and) I see people that get torn apart by animals, every day.” He further added, “My explore page is a f*cking mess. It really is. It’s horrendous. I have problems.”
Having said that, the 55-year-old also discussed the issue with social media as a whole. Particularly considering all the murky data access policies that these platforms have. Upon discussing this, Rogan went on to discuss the domination of the Chinese government in the world.

After talking about what social media encompasses nowadays, Joe Rogan discussed its worst element. “The creepy thing is the data. Their policy.”, Rogan said. He then spoke about how bizarre TikTok’s privacy policies are. The UFC commentator stated, “When you agree to sign-up for TikTok and you read, like the use-policy. Like, woah… I couldn’t f*cking believe it when I was reading it.”
Later in the discussion, the 55-year-old discussed how China currently wields enormous influence and is a magnet for all major businesses. Joe Rogan stated, “I think most people aren’t even aware of the fact that the Chinese government completely controls all business. You really can’t have a major corporation without some sort of interaction with the Chinese government.” This certainly seems to be a valid remark, especially in light of the fact that so many large firms rely on China for their operations.
