When Donald Trump appeared on JRE episode #2219, people were already surprised. After all, Joe Rogan had previously claimed to not be a Trump supporter and that he didn’t want him on JRE. So when the billionaire businessman appeared on the podcast as a part of his 2024 presidential campaign, people felt Rogan switched his previous stance and was leaning towards Trump. Is there now more evidence to confirm this?
Well, in episode #2234, Rogan hosted businessman Marc Andreessen. This was his third time on JRE, but the first time he went full-on MAGA. While the duo discussed Silicon Valley and the U.S. food system, amongst other topics, the conversation also included politics. As reported by ‘The San Francisco Standard’, Andreessen stated that he was “very happy” with the outcome of the presidential election. In fact, Andreessen, who had donated $2.5 million to the pro-Trump Right for America PAC, also stated, “[It’s] morning in America.” He and his business partner, Ben Horowitz, had shared their support for Trump in July.
Further, in his conversation with Joe Rogan, Andreessen touched upon the assassination attempt on Trump in July and called it “the most conspicuous display of physical bravery I’ve ever seen.” Had it been successful, “it could have gone horrifically badly for the entire world.”

The episode recorded more than a million views on YouTube in just over 24 hours and it seems Andreessen’s full-on MAGA discussion didn’t go well with a lot of fans. When Rogan took to announce his episode with Marc Andreessen, he wrote on Instagram, “One of the most brilliant people that I’m fortunate to talk to. Marc laid out some really shocking details of how individuals with the wrong politics get “debanked,” and how certain regulations are in place to allow the government complete control of businesses that they deem important. Really eye opening stuff.” But here’s a twist.
Andreessen was earlier a Democrat and backed names like Bill Clinton, Al Gore, John Kerry, and Barack Obama. In fact, when Hillary Clinton couldn’t win the 2016 elections, the businessman was sad. He voted for her. But this year, when he decided to back Trump instead of Kamala Harris, he saw doors being slammed in his face in Silicon Valley. “This is actually true: There’s now two kinds of dinner parties in Silicon Valley—they fractured cleanly in half,” he told Rogan.
Who are the other Silicon Valley figures who have shown support for Trump? The long list includes Elon Musk (CEO of Tesla Motors and SpaceX), David Sacks (partner at Craft Ventures), Chamath Palihapitiya (founder of Social Capital), Shaun Maguire and Doug Leone (partners at Sequoia Capital), Eoghan McCabe (CEO of Intercom) and many more.
However, fans felt that Rogan, who would previously try to not take sides, was leaning towards Trump and this offended a section of them. Let us not forget that Elon Musk, who is an ardent Trump supporter, was also on the podcast on November 5.

So fans were quick to comment sarcastically under the Instagram post. What did they write?
Fans lash out at Joe Rogan for making his podcast too political!
People who listened to the episode seemed to have strong views about it. The Silicon Valley figure spoke about how Elon Musk spent 18 hours at the office and allowed each employee to explain what they were working on for five minutes. The podcaster was stunned to hear about the effort that the Tesla founder took to make sure that each of his employees was heard properly. Yet, fans were not impressed.
- “It’s been a long journey, but I no longer believe anything I hear on this show.”
- “Oh boy! Joe Rogan, the common man whisperer, is talking to yet another venture capitalist that he almost certainly got recommended by JD Vance, Elon, or Peter Thiel. I can’t wait to here all the working class issues they address lol.”
It is not the first time that the fans have disapproved of a guest on Rogan’s podcast. Previously, they did not like the fact that Tom Segura was also invited to the show. What had caused this avalanche of disapproval was a range of posts that the comedian had made on X a year before the podcast episode.
In a deleted post, he had written, “The lowest level poors get upset as they’ve been trained to do when you point out their ‘happy to do what I’m told’ servant mentality. They don’t value time because their time is worthless.”
Now, criticism is not something new for the podcaster. He has had to face it several times. Remember when people accused him of spreading misinformation on JRE? Well, now a lot of people think Rogan is losing his neutral stance when it comes to politics.
- “Right-wing Joe with his right-wing billionaire propaganda.”
- “JRE is political now.”
Many fans feel that the podcast, which started in 2009, is losing its authenticity. Owing to this, a fan made a request:

- “Where is the funny @joerogan your podcast used to be an escape, now it’s just a bastion for one sided politics that not even your comedian friends can find the funny in. Please please please get on real life people not these detached weirdos that can’t function in a normal grocery store.”
While this episode with Marc Andreessen attracted criticism, there was also a section of fans who loved their discussion.
- “Really good one especially the second half!”
- “Great episode… Don’t miss this one!”
