Conor McGregor has finally come out with a statement after his recent legal troubles left the Irishman in a bind. The civil trial that dominated the news surrounding the former ‘champ-champ’ stemmed from accusations made in 2018 by Nikita Hand, who alleged that McGregor had assaulted her in a Dublin hotel.

After an almost 2-week trial, the jury delivered a verdict as resounding as any knockout finding him liable. The court ruled against the UFC icon, ordering him to pay €248,603.60 (approx. $258,440) in damages. Now, in a post on social media, ‘The Notorious’ has pulled back the curtain on his regret, his plans for the future, and a heartfelt apology for his partner, Dee Devlin.

In a statement shared on his X account, and also posted by ‘Full Violence’ on Instagram, Conor McGregor stated, “People want to hear from me, I needed time. I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have never responded to her outreaches. I should have shut the party down. I should never have stepped out on the woman I love the most in the world. That’s all on me.”

Yet, even in this moment of apology, McGregor stood firm on one key point. He maintained that “As much as I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual…”, a claim he said was backed by witnesses who testified under oath. Despite this, the jury’s decision to side with Hand loomed large.

As such, McGregor further stated, “I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision.” But McGregor isn’t one to linger in defeat. “I can’t go back. I will move forward,” he declared, signaling a shift in focus. For a man synonymous with comebacks, both inside and outside the Octagon, the statement carried a sense of finality.

McGregor gets axed from ‘Hitman’ video game series after controversy surrounds Irishman

Conor McGregor’s world isn’t just confined to the Octagon. The Irish superstar has made waves in sports, entertainment, and now, unfortunately, the courtroom. After being found liable in a recent civil lawsuit, ‘The Notorious’ has found himself in a storm as this ruling didn’t just hit McGregor’s wallet—it rattled his professional standing.

According to reports online, IO Interactive, the developer behind the ‘Hitman’ video game series, announced an immediate end to their collaboration with McGregor. He had been introduced earlier this year as a downloadable character in the game, a nod to his larger-than-life persona.

In a statement on social media, the company stated, “In light of the recent court ruling regarding Conor McGregor, IO Interactive has made the decision to cease its collaboration with the athlete, effective immediately. We take this matter very seriously and cannot ignore its implications. Consequently, we will begin removing all content featuring Mr. McGregor from our storefronts starting today.”

This isn’t McGregor’s first brush with controversy, but it’s certainly among the most significant. The ‘Hitman’ decision may feel like a mere ripple for now, but it could become a wave if more brands decide to cut ties.
