He reveals his excitement to get back to the fighting game by the end of March or the beginning of April. The former undisputed lightweight champion of the UFC is undoubtedly quite confident at this point. This year, he has the title as his ultimate goal. He is adamant that all it will take is one victory to earn him another shot at the throne. The star already has a number of records, including the most submission victories (16) in UFC history and the highest finishes (19).

‘Do Bronx’ is the #1 ranked contender in the UFC lightweight division and #7 in the UFC men’s pound-for-pound rankings. Considering his prior performance, he can undoubtedly aspire to higher levels.

In his recent interview, he said, “I’ve been a long way from that belt. Today, I’m one fight away from him. UFC knows that – knows that I want. I didn’t come here to play. I came to make history. I want to fight around the end of March or early April; that’s my timing. I need to fight on that date. I need a guy who is winning and will definitely be the next challenger for the title.“
Oliveira’s statements amply demonstrate his desire to return for a fierce fight. He undoubtedly anticipates a strong opponent as well. According to Charles, facing a tough fighter makes a triumph stand out and secures his position in history. However, he struggled in his most recent fight, which took place at UFC 280, against Islam Makhachev.

Oliveira, in a further conversation, said: “He (Islam Makhachev) will fight now in February, so I, in March, April, caught a guy who puts me in front of the goal again for the title at the end of the year. For sure. Now I fight in March, April and at the end of the year for the title again.” The clearest evidence of his firm belief in his future fight can be found in his words. He spoke with tremendous assurance about how all it would take was one more match to secure the belt.
Justin Gaethje, the former UFC interim lightweight champion, was Oliveira’s opponent at UFC 274. He went into the fight for his second championship defense full of confidence, but his luck ran out. Oliveira’s weight of 155.5 pounds was half a pound too much for the divisional title.

Oliveira lost his chance to win the championship as a result, and Gaethje was the only one who was eligible to do so. For the first time in UFC history, a title became vacated as a result of a weight infraction.
