During UFC Vegas 71, Bobby Green looked pretty strong in the fight early on against Gordon. However, he accidentally hit his head with ‘Flash’s after a failed attempt for an elbow strike. The fight ended without any decision as Green demanded that the UFC pay him the money for the fight. He even stormed out of the press conference.

‘King’ appeared in an interview with combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani on the popular ‘The MMA Hour’ show. He provided details of a conversation he had with Dana White regarding the no-contest fight. Green said, “I talked to Dana [White] and just told him, ‘My bad bro. I was trying to f***kin hit him with a lead elbow.” He mentioned that there were no intentions to legitimately hurt Jared Gordon.

Bobby Green added, “I wasn’t f***ing trying to do no bullsh*t. F***ing kid went down, so I smashed him.’ Dana was like, ‘Alright, it’s all good kid.'” The UFC president appeared to believe that it might have been an accident. But Bobby Green wasn’t just happy with that. He said, “Sh*t, that ain’t all good. I need my money.”
‘King’ does not want to ‘jeopardize’ his career
‘King’ admitted that needed the money that he could have won from the fight. He had his own set of personal goals to achieve and a fight ending this way becomes a problem for him.

He mentioned that he doesn’t like facing setbacks in his life after realizing the importance of the position he is in at this point in his career. “I hate when we have setbacks like this. … I would never jeopardize that,” said Bobby Green.

The veteran fighter suggested that Gordon should have fought through the unfortunate headbutt and that it is not unusual for fighters to come across headbutts in MMA. However, it remains to be seen what Dana White decides to do about the fight.
