UFC 276 was a night of the middleweights. While Israel Adesanya retained his title against Jared Cannonier, Alex Pereira knocked out Sean Strickland to win his bout. This victory has taken Pereira to number 6 in the middleweight rankings. ‘Poatan’ was recently seen breaking down his knockout in a video shared on Reddit.

In the video, Pereira is seen describing the knockout to the former 205-pound UFC champion Glover Teixeira. ‘Poatan’ said, “He kept walking forward, and I was trying to find the distance because he has a really good jab. Then I went for a leg kick, but he moved his leg and I missed very bad.”

This knockout has earned Pereira a lot of fame. While ‘Poatan’ is on the verge of a title shot, the 185-pound fighter has found another opponent willing to face him.

Alex Pereira called out by Khamzat Chimaev

While people from the MMA world were left impressed by Alex Pereira, Khamzat Chimaev developed an urge to fight him. The undefeated fighter who had an amazing rise to the top called out Pereira on Twitter.

Upon receiving a call-out from Chimaev, Pereira did not remain silent. The Brazilian knockout artist said that he wants to keep the same mind as always and wants to see what is ahead of him. He added, “Same with Sean Strickland’s fight. People talk about Israel’s fight and I say, ‘‘look, I don’t think about this first.’ Right now I am gonna take care of my fight with Israel for the title, and then, after that, we will see about that.”

With Pereira on the verge of a title shot in the 185-pound division, a fight between Pereira and Chimaev seems unlikely. Although considering ‘Borz’ fights at middleweight, fans might be treated to a showdown between the two in the future.
