Joe Rogan, for the longest time, has been an advocate for promoting fitness and health. The podcaster is a massive fitness enthusiast, and moreover, promotes exercising whenever he gets an opportunity. 

Rogan’s fans are aware he looks up to bodybuilders and has the utmost respect for them. The comedian has hosted bodybuilding legends like Ronnie Coleman and Dorian Yates on his JRE podcast.

In the episode where Dorian Yates made an appearance, the UFC commentator had a small ‘Fan Boy’ moment back in 2017. The podcaster looked at the brit’s picture from his bodybuilding days and was in utter disbelief. Nevertheless, the famous Spotify podcaster kept his composure.

Joe Rogan was surprised looking at Yates’ physique

It surprised not only Rogan but also Yates to look at himself. The conversation began when the show host asked the bodybuilder about his journey. The UFC commentator asked, “when did you first burst onto the bodybuilding scene? What year was it?”

Yates revealed that he came from the U.K. to the US in 1992. He said, “the first time I came out here was 1992 Golds Gym. So I came from the U.K. to do my first professional bodybuilding contest. It was called the night of champions in New York and I got a second place there…”.

The Brit then told Rogan that doing well in the competition made a big impact on his career, it landed him opportunities to get his photoshoot, and thus, he appeared in magazines.

Rogan was in absolute amazement upon looking at Yates’ pictures from his heydays. Rogan complimented the bodybuilder and said that Yates was one of the first guys that he saw in a magazine. Moreover, the podcaster also added that he was awestruck looking at his physique.

The six-time Mr. Olympia champion smiled at the compliment and, moreover, said he himself would get shocked at times by looking at his pictures. Yates stated, “it’s funny because I look back at some pictures now of me and I say what the f*ck” 

Yates further added, “it’s extreme, and I came into the sport and I wanted to see what I can do. I wanted to take it as far as I could take it.” The comedian then further praised the former bodybuilder for his insane determination toward the sport.

Dorian Yates: His accomplishments

Yates won the Mr. Olympia title six consecutive times from 1992 to 1997. The English bodybuilder has the fifth-highest number of Mr. Olympia wins in history, just behind Ronnie Coleman (8), Lee Haney (8), Arnold Schwarzenegger (7), and Phil Heath (7).

He retired in 1998. However, he still remains in great shape considering his age (60). Recently, Yates also become a yoga practitioner and described yoga and meditation as life-altering experiences.
