‘Borrachinha‘ said, “I had no problem to do 185, to make 185 in the last seven years ago. I know the way to make 185. I know the magics to make 185 and will make 185 with no problem, don’t worry.”
This time, ‘Borrachinha’ himself put his stamp of approval over the speculations. Not long ago, his manager, Wallid Ismail, stated the same.
“The UFC is not the biggest fighting company in the world by chance,” Costa’s manager told Sherdog. “They know that ‘Borrachinha’ was injured and that’s why he had problems with his weight. There is no doubt his next fight will take place in the middleweight division.”
Costa has been a middleweight fighter for most of his career. However, his last fight (vs ‘The Italian Dream’ Marvin Vettori) was in the light heavyweight division.
What was supposed to be a middleweight scrap was later shifted to a 205-pound fight after Costa informed the company that he could not make weight.
